On Kelli Yon's twenty first birthday, two life changing events occurred.
First, she learned that her vision was drastically impaired and that the world
actually looked much different than she realized. Second, she was given a
camera. This sparked her lifelong passion to explore and document the minutia
of the everyday around her.
In 1997 Yon received an MFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts. Her work has been exhibited internationally since 1994 in such venues as Haines Gallery and SF Camerawork in San Francisco, at Nicolai Fine Art in New York, the Secrist Gallery in Chicago and Blue Sky in Portland, Oregon. Kelli is an Adjunct Professor at the California College of the Arts and has taught at UC Davis and the San Francisco Art Institute. Additionally, she has made images for such magazines as Travel + Leisure, Organic Style, Dwell, and Fast Company. Kelli Yon lives and works in San Francisco, California with her husband, Jason Jagel and their two daughters, Nika and Ruby. |
